This moving and graceful hymn featured on the end credits of We Were Soldiers was co-written by Randall Wallace and film score composer Nick Glennie-Smith. Since its appearance in the film, the song has grown in popularity being performed by choirs all over the world. The Mansions of the Lord has since been adopted U.S. Army as an official hymn and was played during the recessional at Ronald Reagan's National Funeral at St. Patrick's Cathedral in 2004.
